The Use of GenAI in the Teaching and Learning of Academic English Writing
CAES teachers incorporated GenAI in the teaching and learning of an academic English writing course. For students undertaking qualitative research, developing interview questions is a crucial skill. Students are guided to craft prompts for ChatGPT to generate potential interview questions using an appropriate tone that applies to the researcher’s context. Additionally, Chat GPT is instructed to ask follow-up questions and to pilot the interview questions. In the process, students critically evaluate the generative content for clarity, and become aware of the limitations and disadvantages the chatbot.
