Use Case
AI in Teaching and Learning: An Ethical Framework
The speaker presents a goal-oriented ethical framework to AI in teaching, learning and research including the goals on aligning AI use with objectives such as efficiency, skills development, and assessment integrity. Ultimately, what we ought to use AI for depends on our goals. Ethical considerations are complex, especially given various priorities across different units and areas within. While AI helps humans get answers quickly, saving time and resources, it could come at the tradeoffs of an array of skills-acquisition and learning process development, and may decenter the intrinsic value of exploration and intellectual creativity. While AI enables quick answers and resource savings, it may also trade off skills acquisition and the intrinsic value of exploration and intellectual creativity. The speaker reminds us that human inquiry remains central, and understanding how AI influences the balance among our goals is key to responsible use.
