Induction Programme for New Staff

A warm welcome to all new academic and teaching staff at the University of Hong Kong, and thank you for joining the induction programme.

We are pleased to invite you to embark on this programme alongside the Vice-President and Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Teaching and Learning), Professor Jay Siegel, as well as unit heads and representatives from the university’s core teaching and support units. They will introduce you to the essential services and support available to assist you in your teaching role at HKU.

The programme consists of two parts.

  • Part 1 is an online programme. You will learn about HKU’s core teaching and learning programmes, along with the support and services accessible across campus, presented by nine unit heads and representatives in nine short videos.
  • In Part 2, you will have the opportunity to meet these representatives face-to-face during a networking session.

The networking session will be offered during Semester 1, 2026-27 as follows:

Venue : Learning Lab (RRS321 & RRS322, 3/F, Run Run Shaw Building, Main Campus, HKU)

Part 2: Networking Session

In this section, you will be welcomed by the Vice-President and Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Teaching and Learning), Professor Jay Siegel, who will provide an introduction to HKU’s teaching and learning. You will then have the opportunity to meet and chat with representatives from TALIC and the university’s teaching support unit over a cup of coffee and light refreshments. Please feel free to bring any questions you may have.
