Use Case
Library Support in Academic Integrity (AI-powered tools)
HKU Libraries feature a range of generative AI tools, AI detection, and copyright resources that support the university’s faculties and teaching, learning, and research in academic integrity. These include licensed AI-empowered research tools that assist with idea brainstorming, literature searches, content sourcing, summarization, research writing, and organization. In addition to GPT (HKU) and Copilot, which are commonly used by most students and teachers, chatbots such as Primo Research Assistant and Scite Assistant use natural language processing to aid users with academic tasks like searching for academic papers and conducting literature reviews. Furthermore, the library provides plagiarism and AI writing detection tools and offers training in Turnitin and Draft Coach, aiming to enhance transparency in student writing and empower teachers to address AI overreliance. The library also offers training and general guidelines in citation management, including tools like EndNote and Zotero.
