Abstract

Further to the official announcement from the Vice-President and Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Teaching and Learning) and the Graduate School, all faculties, departments, and schools must have their RPg-training courses in place no later than September 2027. Course proposals must be submitted to TALIC and Graduate School by January 8, 2027 (see https://talic.hku.hk/professional-development/new-faculty-department-pedagogical-training-course/ for details). TALIC will be holding a series of 3 workshops (each offered twice) to support staff who are involved in designing/teaching these courses. Please note that these are not general interest workshops. [October 2026] Theme 1: Designing and Facilitating Course Assessments

Abstract

The workshop will discuss how to design and facilitate microteaching sessions, grading practice, teaching observations, and other potential assessments. We will also discuss the use of rubrics, grading, and feedback practices for these assessments. Participants should come prepared with plans for potential assessments and how they align with their proposed course learning outcomes. Part of the session will be devoted to (small) group consultations and Q&A led by TALIC staff.
