Abstract
Overview
“Beat The Bot” (BTB) is an interactive, research-based creativity platform designed to help participants better understand and improve their own creative capacity in the age of AI. Built on a real-time digital platform, BTB allows participants to engage in structured creativity tasks and receive instant feedback through visual performance charts. Uniquely, participants will not only create ideas individually and in teams, but also compare their outputs with those generated by large language models (LLMs) such as ChatGPT. The workshop moves beyond abstract discussion by offering hands-on experience with prompt engineering, AI collaboration, and performance reflection. Whether in academic or professional settings, BTB encourages critical thinking about the role of AI in human creativity, prompting participants to consider: When do humans outperform machines? When does collaboration make us better?
Learning Outcomes
Participants will:
- Understand how AI generates creative content and how it compares to human input.
- Develop awareness of their own creative style and strengths.
- Learn to design better prompts for AI interaction.
- Experience the dynamics of human-AI co-creation.
- Reflect on when AI enhances or constrains creativity in group settings.
Workshop Plan
The 90-minute session will follow 6 activities:
- Individual Task: Participants generate creative responses on their own.
- AI Baseline: Participants view and compare with standard AI outputs.
- Coached AI: AI improves its responses through prompts.
- Augmented Pair: Participants generate responses with the AI.
- Team Collaboration: Teams generate responses by team creativity abilities.
- Augmented Team: Teams work with AI to enhance and finalize responses.
