Contents

Eligibility

In order to apply for Fellowship you must have taught in higher education full time for at least 12 months. Staff new to the University of Hong Kong would normally have completed the Professional Certificate in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education. If you are unsure about your eligibility, please contact Dr. Jannie Roed in TALIC.

Process and Timeline

Application

You must use the HKU application template. In order to be awarded Fellowship, applicants need to demonstrate their effectiveness as teachers in ALL FIVE of the areas of activity in the UK Professional Standards Framework. Once you have registered on the scheme and completed three workshops (including the introductory, mandatory one), you will be allocated a mentor. Normally, your mentor will be from your own faculty, but occasionally we will have to draw on mentors from other faculties. You will have between six and seven months to complete your application with guidance from your mentor. Your application will be submitted electronically.

Workshop 1: PSF Orientation Workshop (Mandatory)
Workshop 2: Writing a teaching portfolio: Why and How?
Workshop 3: The Scholarship of Teaching and Learning
Workshop 4: Diversity and Inclusive Teaching; Sustainable Development Goals
Workshop 5: Core Knowledge and Professional Values

In addition to the themed workshops above, workshops in each of the five area of activity will be offered. Participants must bring along their own notes or drafts for each area of activity and will be working in small cross-disciplinary groups for peer support and discussion. Each group will be facilitated by a member of the TALIC team.
