TDLEG Inter-Institutional Collaborative activity (IICA) 2022-25
The Student Learning Experience in Hong Kong Universities: A Deep Dive into Institutional Data

A Joint Effort by 5 Hong Kong Universities led by HKU

This is a TDLEG Inter-Institutional Collaborative activity (IICA) led by Professor Lily Zeng at the University of Hong Kong. It enabled a joint effort among five universities in Hong Kong: HKU, CUHK, HKBU, EDUHK and PolyU. The project aimed at a secondary analysis of the institutional data using statistical methods different to those used for regular institutional reports. It also included qualitative interviews with students and programme leaders to expand on the quantitative findings. Through these mixed methods, we obtained a more in-depth understanding of the enablers and barriers to students’ attainment of the university educational aims and their overall satisfaction. This mixed-methods approach provided a deeper understanding of the factors that enable or hinder students’ achievement of educational goals and their overall satisfaction. Together, we disseminated evidence of best practices derived from the findings, helping universities learn from one another and make evidence-based decisions to enhance students’ learning experiences.
