Enhancing Learning Experiences via GenAI in Common Core Courses

In CCST5068, students are prompted to ‘create’ a product or a service such as a mobile app and crowdfund it with a demonstrative video using free and paid AI tools. Students use ChatGPT to prompt innovative ideas and target markets. After, they use MidJourney to generate main images and a mobile interface mockup, and finally use Figma in conjunction with the mockup images to design the interface. In CCST9056, an AI tutor is integrated into teaching and learning to help students understand complex concepts. The AI tutor embedded into Moodle is trained by lecture and tutorial notes. Students ask relevant questions and are responded with correct answers and references most of the time, with occasional hallucinations. Students note the meaningful contribution of these AI tools while noting the need to critically analyse its results.
