COIL affords teachers and students an opportunity to interact and collaborate with their overseas counterparts without the need to travel abroad. The COIL component normally accounts for at least 20% of the total teaching and learning activities of a course, including synchronous or asynchronous lessons, assignment preparation, and self-study.
