Abstract
This seminar discusses some proactive and well-received teaching and learning practices of edu-preneurialship in the course “MEDD 8890 Edu-preneurial Leadership in Continuing Professional Development for Career Advancement” in Master of Education from academic year of 2024/2025 (Stage 1) and 2025/2026 (Stage 2) respectively, as well as its interaction with Public Policy Research (PPR) Grant funded by the Chief Executive Policy Unit (CEPU).
To start with, this seminar describes, in Stage 1, how MEd students were encouraged to use Generative AI-tool to develop their strategic corporate branding for authentic scenarios of renowned organizations and public bodies in their group project in academic year 2024/2025. Specific discussion would be placed on commendation from relevant stakeholders, including higher education fellows, renowned corporate senior management and prominent Government official from the Education Bureau.
Second, this seminar delineates, in Stage 2, how MEd students were facilitated to adopt Generative AI-tool to develop their “start-up entrepreneurial platform” for authentic scenarios in their group project in academic year 2025-2026, in response to the societal needs stipulated in the Policy Address 2025 of the HKSARG. Further discussion would be pitched at what AI software had been used, what purposes did they serve, how they felt when using Generative-AI tools, and what are the possible implications for the transformation of traditional production process and what might be the possible impacts on the job market.
Last, this seminar shares how edu-preneurialship positions in the inter-disciplinary areas between education and business, and how edu-preneurialship could contribute to the policy findings and recommendations to policymakers with his ongoing PPR project titled “Exploring Future Strategies to Promote the Development of Vocational and Professional Education and Training (VPET) in New Quality Productive Force in Hong Kong in synergy with Greater Bay Area–Policy Leaders’ and Industry Leaders’ Perspective: A Qualitative Approach” funded by the CEPU.
As a concluding remark, the speaker would share his insights on the possible impacts of edu-preneurialship in teaching, research and knowledge exchange, which are capitalized on his role of Founder and Leader in “Leading Education with Edu-preneurial Leadership Inter-disciplinary Discussion Group” in University of Oxford, Entrepreneur Expert in Oxford Said Business School, Entrepreneurship Funding Panel in MIT, and Entrepreneurialship Mentor in Cyberport.
